Asteroid detected merely hours sooner than hitting Earth, crashes over Philippines

A small asteroid, designated 2024 RW1, was discovered merely hours sooner than it entered Earth’s surroundings and disintegrated over the Philippines. The object was detected by the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona, a NASA-funded program focused on monitoring near-Earth objects.
