The police mentioned that they had acquired a name from the hostel proprietor concerning the suicide of the scholar from Mahendragarh in Haryana final night time.
Neeraj, a scholar of Class 12, had been making ready for the JEE at a training institute in Kota and lived in a hostel in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Circle Inspector Budharam Jat mentioned.
According to the police official, the scholar allegedly dedicated suicide by hanging himself to the hook of a ceiling fan in his hostel room late Tuesday night. However, the incident got here to gentle round 10.30 pm when the caretaker knocked the room and didn’t obtain any response, he added.

The father of the deceased scholar mentioned that his son was making ready for JEE Main at Allen Coaching in Kota for the final two years. Neeraj was good at research and attended the teaching courses recurrently, he mentioned.
“I spoke to my son Neeraj on phone last time around 3.30 pm on Tuesday and he was in a good mood with no complaints whatsoever,” Neeraj’s father informed reporters exterior the mortuary in Kota.
Father calls for probe
His father claimed that his son couldn’t have dedicated suicide. Demanding an neutral investigation into the matter, he alleged that his son was choked to loss of life and was subsequently hung to the ceiling fan to make it seem as a case of suicide.
Neeraj was scheduled to return dwelling by the night prepare on January 9 and had a reserved seat, he mentioned.
50 per cent decline in scholar suicides in Kota: DM
The Kota district administration claimed that there was a 50 per cent decline within the variety of suicides by college students in 2024 as in comparison with 2023 on this teaching hub of Rajasthan identified for making ready college students for IIT-JEE entrance assessments.
However, no particular breakdown of the numbers has been offered by the officers.
“In comparison to last year, the suicide rate among coaching students has decreased by 50 per cent this year, which is a significant figure in terms of the efforts yielding results. We expect this trend to continue in the future,” Kota Collector Ravindra Goswami mentioned on December 29, 2024.
Kota witnessed 17 instances of suicides by teaching college students in 2024, in comparison with 26 such instances in 2023, as per experiences.
