Why was One Nation-One Election not implemented?
Pilot said, ‘Elections are to be held in Jharkhand and Maharashtra after some time. I am surprised that the parties and governments claiming One Nation-One Election are not able to create an environment where the Election Commission can conduct simultaneous elections in four states. By-elections are yet to be held in Rajasthan. By-elections are yet to be held in Uttar Pradesh. The announcement has just been made. But somewhere, there is a difference between BJP’s words and actions.’
‘Government on back foot after Rahul Gandhi became leader of opposition’
The Congress leader said, ‘One thing is clear from this that after Rahul Gandhi became the leader of the opposition, the government is on the back foot. The opposition is setting the agenda. The pride of majority which dominated them for 10 years was taken away by the people on June 4. After this date, a new truth and reality has come before the country. The way Rahul Gandhi is fixing the accountability of the government today also reflects the changed environment. I see a change in the states I visit. Now politics is changing. Everyone is sad and worried. I ask what mistake did the people of Rajasthan commit that they did not get anything in the budget. The only mistake the people made was that they made BJP lose 11 seats. They have taken revenge for this. This kind of discrimination is not a good sign for democracy.’
‘There is no coordination within the government’
Pilot further said, ‘It is not clear who is running the state government today. One leader says something and the other leader says something else. There is no coordination in this government. Because of this, absurd statements are coming out. The public is getting upset with the situation in the state. The law and order is deteriorating day by day. But the government is not even concerned about it. Today the law and order is deteriorating in every district of Rajasthan. Girls are being mistreated. But instead of tightening the grip of law, politics of allegations and counter-allegations is done.’
‘RPSC can be dissolved’
On this occasion, Pilot also raised the issue of dissolving the RPSC. He said, ‘If the government has the will power, then Rajasthan Public Service Commission can be dissolved. Before the elections, they used to talk big. But when it comes to dissolving the RPSC, everyone is shying away. People no longer have faith in the RPSC.’ Let us tell you that Congress has released a list of 40 star campaigners for campaigning in Haryana, which also includes the names of former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot.
