A garments advert recorded on the big day of reality tv celebrities Vicky Pattison and Ercan Ramadan was prohibited for providing smoking cigarettes as “part of a glamourous and aspirational lifestyle”.
Ramadan revealed a video clip on Instagram on October 3 2024 promoting Endrick Clothing, which he’s the supervisor of, revealing him and seven finest males with stogies with the subtitle “La Familia (black heart emoji) Groom & Groomsman suited by @endrickclothing”.
The exact same video clip was shared by Geordie Shore celeb Pattison, 37, that has 5.5 million followers, on October 11.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) supported 2 issues regarding the video clip, one stating it glamorised smoking cigarettes and yet another regarding it not being plainly famous as an “ad”.
It claimed: “While we acknowledged the advert was for menswear merchandise, we thought of that the advert’s principal focus was on smoking and that it was depicted as an pleasurable group exercise.
“We thought of that the usage of sluggish movement, the formal setting and the jazz-style music added to the stylised and aspirational tone.
“We thought of that the video offered smoking in an interesting method and steered that it was a part of a glamourous and aspirational way of life.
“For that reason, we concluded that the ads were irresponsible.”
The ASA “considered the commercial intent of the ad was unclear, and that the post needed to have included a prominent label upfront, identifying it as an ad, which it did not have”.
It claimed the commercials “must not appear again in the form complained of”, and Ramadan was knowledgeable to be sure that future commercials have been “socially responsible”.
The pair formally wed at Marylebone Town Hall in August and wed as soon as once more in Puglia, Italy in September.
